Yesterday I posted about Eddie Vedder writing PRO-CHOICE on his arm in Pearl Jam’s 1992 Unplugged performance on MTV and the effect that had on some young people’s take on abortion. 

champagnecandy (the amazing Sarah Jaffe) wrote me to let me know that she had posted the video last month on her Tumblr.  Here it is.

At the 4:00 mark, Vedder is improvising lyrics and says, “I want to live, I want to choose” (everything he says in the 30 seconds or so before that moment are made up on the spot by Vedder - according to my partner, a Pearl Jam expert and, like champagnecandy, an unabashedly PJ-over-Nirvana fan).

(P.S. I always liked Eddie and Pearl Jam better than Kurt and Nirvana. Unfashionable opinion, but I don’t much care.)
