Oh hey ya’ll. Hope everyone is doing well.
Things have been going pretty swell here in Cincy. You know, I thought there was going to be a big adjustment period in all of this…but I am super comfortable here. I hope I don’t lose my mind when school starts and I realize that I’m not actually a student anymore.
Welllllllll since my last update I have been doing a few things here and there. I went to Nebraska for an Americorps training. NEBRASKA. I met all of the other Americorps volunteers around the country. It was really refreshing. I feel that you can always measure an experience on how much you laugh throughout. I can’t wait until our mid-year meet up. As contradictory as it may sound, we had our commencement dinner in a children’s science museum. We were provided with some refreshments….GET ME?
This provided us with endless entertainment. The more we seemed to drink, the more child-like we became.

This is a picture of some of us in a balloon popping booth. This particular fascination only lasted about….2 hours.
In other news…I was put in charge of developing ACT review sessions for our scholars. OH MY GOODNESS FRACTIONS MAKE ME SWEAT. In order to develop these sessions, I have to actually take a review course. Uggggggg I also had no idea what an adverb was. YEAH THAT’S RIGHT. I went through 16 years of schooling with NO CLUE.
Whatevz. That is what School House Rock was made for. Honestly though….if you want to actually learn grammar I highly recommend this method….Youtube, not an ACT course.
Yet again there have been a few ideological clashes here in good old Cincy. All imma say is that abstinence only education DOES NOT WORK AND NEVER WILL. I really did have a great discussion with my boss about what an incredible flaw it is to only preach abstinence. I can only hope some of what I said resonated. We really need to start trusting our young people more. Especially our young women. Hence the need for CHOICE. And no…that is not a different matter all together.
For anyone wanting to scream out “YEAH!” while reading a book…may I recommend The Purity Myth by my homegirl Jessica Valenti?

Available wherever books are sold! Well maybe not Mississippi. (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/clinic/)
My shawty is coming here is 6 days! I really hope we spend at least 20 minutes in the Creation Museum before getting thrown out.
